Though there are remarkable developments taken place due to scientific and technological inventions, environmental issues crept in due to these developments. Science education plays an important role in developing scientific temper, reflective thinking, inquiry skills, scientific attitude etc. among school children besides imparting scientific knowledge. This paper attempts to explore how far scientific attitude a latent objective of science education, would help in development of environmentally sensitive practices. Scientific attitude scale and Environmental Practices Scale are administered to 480 secondary school children. It is found that scientific attitude acts as a predictor of environmental practices in general. Among components of scientific attitude, curiosity is found to be a predictor of environmental friendly practices. Specifically influence of scientific attitude is evident in practices pertaining to conservation of nature, control of noise pollution and limiting use of poly products.
